Problem

Many AI tools feel too technical or too vague: unclear capabilities, cold chat screens and replies too long to act on.

What I did

Guided onboarding, category-based chat, replies that always offer next steps, and a home that remembers past chats.

Outcome

A friendly, trustworthy assistant for business, design and legal questions.

Goals and the core flow

  • A trustworthy onboarding that invites people to explore.
  • Chat categories that are clear, to reduce mental effort.
  • Replies that are clear and always offer a next step.
  • A modern, vibrant look that doesn’t overwhelm.
User flow

From first launch to a useful answer

  1. Start: Onboarding: “Trusty helper”
  2. Screen: Home: updates and chat history
  3. Decision: Start where?
    • Pick up a past chat
    • New chat
  4. Screen: Choose a category: marketing, legal, design…
  5. System action: Answer with clear next steps
  6. Decision: Next?
    • Learn more
    • Change request
    • Save
  7. End: Back to Home

Three key screens

  • Onboarding: “Trusty helper”
  • Home: updates and chat history
  • Chat with category switcher
  • Onboarding

Soft 3D shapes and straight-to-the-point copy set expectations. The aesthetic-usability effect makes it feel easier.

  • Home

Two modules, updates and chat history, with meaningful previews so people pick up where they left off.

  • Chat

User and AI messages use different shades; a dropdown switches category; “Learn more” and “Change request” give control.

Prototype

  1. Onboarding: “Trusty helper”
  2. Home: updates and chat history
  3. Chat with a category switcher

Reflection

With AI, UX is mostly about setting accurate expectations. Visual warmth and microcopy matter a lot to first-time users, and simple structure with layered options beats showing everything at once.
