Redesigning one of the internet’s most chaotic stores

Arngren is famous among designers for its cluttered homepage. I used it to practise hierarchy, grouping and white space on a real, extreme example.

Redesigning one of the internet’s most chaotic stores

The starting point

Hundreds of products, all with the same weight: images overlap, prices float, and there is no clear entry point. Everything shouts, so nothing is heard.

Before: the original homepage.

The redesign

  • One header: logo, an “Explore” menu and a single search bar.
  • The long product list becomes an A–Z category menu on the side.
  • One featured product with a clear “Buy now” instead of many competing ones.
  • A consistent grid of cards: image, name, price, button.
  • Contact details grouped in a simple footer.
After: the same content with hierarchy, grouping and space.

I didn’t remove products to make it look clean. The content is the same; only the structure changed. That is what hierarchy is for.
